No, the lift pass is not included in the course price and you will need to arrange this yourself. The type of ticket you need for the lessons depends entirely on your age and skiing ability:
- The youngest children, up to the age of 5, do not yet need their own lift pass, as they can use the SkiWelt lifts and gondolas free of charge.
- Beginner children do not need a ticket for their first day, as they start off free of charge on the ski school’s own conveyor belt.
- For adult beginners and beginner snowboarders, a cheaper day ticket for the practice slopes, valid for the T-bar and chairlifts, is sufficient to start with. Please note that this special ticket is available exclusively from the Schneeberglift ticket office.
Your ski instructors will provide you with detailed information during lessons about which lift pass is required and sufficient for the following day. Regular tickets are available from the ticket offices at the chairlift (Schneeberglift) or the Alpenrosenbahn (gondola). You can find all fares and details in advance at www.skiwelt.at
Our group lessons always start and finish on our ‘Samer’ practice slope. This practice slope is located right in the village of Westendorf, down in the valley. This is also where our children´s land (Red Tent) is situated for our youngest participants and beginners. The advantage is that family members and parents can easily reach the meeting point on foot.
Depending on the course, we split up at the T-bar lift as follows:
- T-bar lift at the bottom: children with previous experience, adult beginners and all snowboarders.
- T-bar lift at the top: adults with previous experience.
For private lessons:
In private lessons, we tailor the session entirely to your skiing ability. The exact meeting point is therefore always agreed with you on an individual basis. Possible meeting points are:
- Children´s land
- at the bottom or top of the T-bar lift
- at the bottom of the Schneeberg chairlift
- the valley station of the Alpenrosenbahn (down in the valley)
- the mountain station of the Alpenrosenbahn (near the Talkaser restaurant).
As a general rule, a refund of the course fee is only possible with a doctor’s certificate (e.g. in the event of illness or injury). Unfortunately, we cannot refund the money simply because you do not enjoy the course or lack motivation.
As we know that you can never be entirely sure in advance whether the little ones will enjoy skiing, we offer flexible solutions to minimise your risk:
- The trial card: Book a trial card for the first day to easily see how your child (aged 3–5) gets on.
- Flexible extension: Book a short course to start with and simply extend it on site after the first few days. If you extend after 1 or 2 days, you’ll pay the same low total price. From the 3rd day onwards, a higher price applies for the extension.
Please note: The Trial Card can only be used once, on the first day of skiing. Booking the Trial Card reserves a place for the whole week.
Please bear in mind your child’s skiing ability: whilst beginners can usually be collected at lunchtime, this is more difficult for advanced groups. They usually stay at a ski hut on the mountain and do not return to the practice area at lunchtime. If you would like to meet or collect your child at lunchtime, please discuss the exact location and time with the ski instructors first thing in the morning when the course starts.
Please also bear in mind that it is often difficult to catch up with the group again after a break. It may be possible to switch to a different group. Therefore, please make sure you let your ski instructors know in advance if you are planning to take a break!
If you already have some experience, you may be able to join a group course during the week, depending on availability and group allocation. Please bear in mind that we cannot give a firm commitment in advance. Final allocation will only be made on site, once your skiing or snowboarding ability has been assessed.
Beginners’ courses can only start as a new group if a suitable group is formed, there are enough participants and a ski or snowboard instructor is available. This, too, is decided flexibly on site.
We recommend planning your holiday, where possible, so that you can start on the fixed start dates.
Yes, booking the full course from the outset is the best value for money. The more days you book right at the start, the cheaper each individual day of the course will be.
If you decide to extend your stay once you’re here, that’s of course perfectly fine.
Please note, however, that extending your stay from the third day onwards is significantly more expensive than if you book a 4-, 5- or 6-day course right from the start. For the taster day, the following applies: if you extend your course immediately afterwards, you’ll pay the same low total price.
Children: Sunday to Friday
Adults: Sunday to Thursday
On the remaining days (i.e. on Fridays for adults and on Saturdays for children and adults), we offer private lessons only.
Yes, that is generally possible. Please simply mention this when you are being allocated to a group on the first day.
Please note: If there is a difference in skiing ability, the person with the higher level will be placed in the group with the less experienced person, so as not to overwhelm anyone.
Should the group allocation not be quite right – for example, because your actual ability only becomes apparent after your first few turns – our instructors will move you to the appropriate group if necessary. Your booked ticket will, of course, remain valid.
